Alexis Mac Allister jokes that Liverpool teammate Luis Diaz has just said something that ‘made him cry’ on camera

Alexis Mac Allister has been a real hit since arriving at Liverpool last summer.

The Argentinian had the look of a superb signing when he joined from Brighton after steady improvement over the past few seasons.

And although he had a slightly underwhelming start and has largely been played out of position, Mac Allister has shone.

In the eye of many, the 25-year-old was second only to Virgil van Dijk in the race to be crowned Liverpool’s best player of the season.

Part of Mac Allister’s appeal has been his personality off the pitch. The World Cup winner was a favourite of Jurgen Klopp and has clearly already won over his Liverpool teammates, too.

Luis Diaz makes Alexis Mac Allister ‘cry’

Mac Allister really grew into his first season at Anfield. Although he did fade towards the end of the campaign, the former Brighton man showed the mentality of a World Cup winner.

Part of the reason for Mac Allister’s seamless transition to life at Liverpool was seemingly down to the presence of some fellow South Americans.

The Reds already boasted three players from Mac Allister’s home continent by the time he arrived last summer.

Ever since he joined, Mac Allister has spoken openly about the bond he shares with both Luis Diaz and Darwin Nunez.

And as if to put that bond to the test, the Premier League’s official YouTube site shared a video of the three Liverpool stars answering questions from fans while sat together.

Their friendship is obvious to see and one question in particular threatened to make Mac Allister emotional.

Asked what the trio are most proud of during their lives, Liverpool’s No.10 knew what was coming. “This one is going to make us cry!” announced Mac Allister.

“What am I most proud of?” said Diaz, taking up the reigns. “Being where I am today. Being a professional footballer, being able to provide for my family. Enjoying what I do, which is playing football and what we enjoy the most and being happy, as I always am.

“You’re making me cry Luchito!” exclaimed Mac Allister, wiping away pretend tears from his eyes.

What else did the Liverpool players answer

Surprisingly, there were no direct questions from the fans about Liverpool specifically. However, Mac Allister, Diaz and Nunez were asked about life in England, including the weather.

“It’s the toughest thing,” said Mac Allister, after admitting that it is indeed as cold as people say.

The trio were also questioned as to whether the Premier League is as physical as it’s made out to be.

“For me it is,” admitted Nunez, to the agreement of his teammates. “You can play teams at the bottom or the top of the table. When you play them at home they are all competitive.”

They also named their all-time football legends – Diaz and Nunez both going with Ronaldinho, Mac Allister naming Riquelme – and their favourite current players – Messi for Mac Allister and Diaz, Neymar for Nunez.
