Report: Arsenal have convinced ‘excellent’ player to stay this summer, he’s about to sign a new contract

Arsenal have now been handed a considerable boost as they aim to prepare Mikel Arteta’s squad for another Premier League title race.

Despite enjoying a record-breaking season, Edu has a lot on his plate this summer, aiming to bridge the gap to Manchester City.

And whilst many are enjoying Euro 2024 right now, Edu and his team will be working diligently behind the scenes.

Arsenal need to add depth to their squad this summer, and also require the addition of a world class starter in central midfield.

However, in order to execute this business Arsenal will need to offload several players first, the likes of Reiss Nelson, Eddie Nketiah and perhaps even Emile Smith Rowe.

Arsenal need to adhere to the league’s Profit and Sustainability Rules, and they also won’t desire several players minuteless on the periphery of things.

That being said, Arsenal have been attempting to convince three players to stay before their contracts expire this month.

Arsenal have persuaded 30-cap Karl Hein to stay and sign a new contract

Along with Amario Cozier-Duberry and Reuell Walters, 22-year-old Karl Hein had been expected to leave the club this month.

However, The Athletic are now reporting that Arsenal have been successful in their attempts to keep Hein as their third choice goalkeeper, and he will now sign a new contract.

Given that Aaron Ramsdale is likely to leave Arsenal this summer, the club didn’t need the headache of recruiting two keepers in the same window.

And fortunately Hein has been persuaded to stay and will likely now head out on loan to gain the necessary club experience to match his international career.

Hein, who has been ‘excellent’ for Estonia, has now earned a remarkable 30 caps for his country, explaining his readiness for more chances at club.

Amario Cozier-Duberry could be Arsenal’s next Serge Gnabry regret

Although Arsenal fans will be pleased with this news, they will now be hoping for a similar breakthrough with Cozier-Duberry.

Walters has already made his intentions to leave Arsenal clear, but all hope it is not lost with the winger just yet.

Given the news that Reiss Nelson could also leave Arsenal this summer, the club will need to recruit a new winger – someone who can adequately cover for Bukayo Saka.

But thereafter, 19-year-old Cozier-Duberry would provide excellent cover as first back-up to Arteta’s four first team wingers.

And should he leave, there’s certainly a worry that fans in north London could see a repeat of the regret that still surrounds Serge Gnabry’s departure in the past.
