On Tuesday morning, Aston Villa discovered how their 2024/25 schedule will look in the league as the Villans bid to continue their progression.

How difficult Aston Villa opening 10 fixtures of 2024/25 are compared to other Premier League clubs

Villa will start the 2024/25 campaign with an away game against West Ham United at the London Stadium.

Last term, the Villans entertained a 1-1 draw in such fixture and will hope to claim three points in their opener of Emery’s second full season at the helm.

Next comes Arsenal away in a match considered more of a challenge however, Villa seem to have prevailed with a more desired opening run of 10 games.

That’s according to Opta Analyst data, which has analysed the Premier League’s first 10 games of 2024/25, relaying that Villa have the fourth-easiest opening run.

Opta Analyst analysis of Premier League 2024/25 opening 10 fixture difficulty

According to Opta, only Everton, Leicester City and Nottingham Forest have an easier start to the season than Villa, who have an average opponent rating of 85.4.

Opta’s data will be encouraging for the Villans, on top of the fact that Emery’s side won six of eight of those fixtures in 2023/24, excluding the two games set to be played against newly-promoted sides.

Villa will want to start the season well regardless of opponent

The 2022/23 campaign saw Villa finish 7th in Emery’s first spell at the club, with last season proving that the Spaniard can take the squad to new heights with a fourth-place finish.

The 2024/25 calendar represents the opportunity for the manager to show just how high Villa’s ceiling is, as his side prepares to combat the Premier League and the Champions League.

If the Villans can improve once more, there will be real hope that the future can see the Midlands club return as one of the best sides in England, in what is poised to be a thrilling campaign.

For now, all focus will be on the transfer window, with plenty of work to be done ahead of the opening game against West Ham.
