Manchester United’s top target this summer is Jarrad Branthwaite, however, Everton aren’t letting him go easily.
For Manchester United, a quick start to this summer was pivotal, however, they’ve met resistance in securing a simple deal to buy number one target Jarrad Branthwaite.
Everton quite understandably doesn’t want to sell their monstrous defender and have refused to budge from a £70m valuation which is well above what United want to spend.
The Englishman with one cap enjoyed a phenomenal breakout season in the Premier League, and it’s little surprise that United want him.
But now, Sky Sports has issued an update which is concerning for anyone who wants to see Branthwaite in red next year.
What are Sky Sports saying about Jarrad Branthwaite
The pursuit to sign Jarrad Branthwaite is already turning out to be a long one, with one bid rejected and another reported to be being prepared to tempt Everton ahead of the June 30th PSR deadline.
But as the Toffees stand strong on their valuation, now Dharmesh Sheth of Sky Sports has provided an update.
He tweeted: “Manchester United discussing whether to go back in for defender Jarrad Branthwaite. It’s understood if Everton doesn’t reduce the asking price, United will move onto other targets.”
Along with this, three names on the list for United were added in case Branthwaite is unattainable.
“Those include Crystal Palace’s Marc Guehi, Lille’s Leny Yoro and Jean-Clair Todibo from Nice.”
Three solid names, although with Branthwaite being the top target, it’d be better if he arrived the club likely need two centre-halves anyway.

Manchester United have four fascinating options on the table
Usually, when a club are linked with multiple names in a position, it means that there will be some options which are less desirable than others.
But with United’s centre-back hunt, it couldn’t be more different as all four of the aforementioned signings are sold and encouraging names we’d like to see arrive.
Todibo is an excellent defender and strong on the ball, with his price tag being attainable which should put him in a strong position to be added to the ranks.
Guehi is Premier League proven for Palace and would be another English player in the team, but with his price tag at £65m, he’d cost as much if not more than Branthwaite depending on the Euros outcome.
Finally, Yoro is the game changer, the next great world centre-half and if United manage to get him, it’ll be an incredible coup which hands Lisandro Martinez his dream partner.
