'If I'm lucky': £60m 'extraordinary' Manchester United target now breaks silence over Old Trafford links

As Manchester United look for a new striker this summer, one option is Matheus Cunha and now he’s broken his silence over a move.

This summer Manchester United have some serious priorities in which reinforcements are desired. Among these four positions is a new number nine who can support and take the weight off Rasmus Hojlund.

The desire to add a striker has seen several different options linked, with Joshua Zirkzee among the most discussed options as he gears up to depart Bologna.

Other options are linked, but one target Benjamin Sesko is now off the table after committing to RB Leipzig.

But with a Premier League proven forward of priority to Ineos, Wolves’ No.12 Matheus Cunha has found himself a target of a £60m move, and now he’s broken his silence on this potential move.

Matheus Cunha breaks silence over Manchester United move

On Thurday a clip went viral which showed Cunha being quizzed by a friends on a live stream, over his the links which have recently drawn him to Old Trafford.

“You know it’s a real honour to have your name linked to Manchester United. One of the biggest clubs in the world.

“But I’m happy at Wolves. If I’m lucky I play another good season, but the window is open you never know.”

Cunha’s final words of mentioning that you can never be sure when the transfer window is open can be interpreted as a hint that he’d probably welcome a move, and it’d be little surprise if he did considering the situation Wolves are in – where they could do with a sale.

Brazil’s Cunha may be an ‘extraordinary’ talent would be an excellent pick-up for Ineos, but what would be actually bring to Old Trafford?

What Matheus Cunha would bring to Manchester United

If United are going for Cunha, it’d make a lot of sense given his status as a player who is proven in the Premier League.

Last season was his first full season in England, and despite Wolves’ struggles and the fact he missed six games, Cunha still managed to rack up 12 goals and seven assists.

Cunha does have a lot of the qualities that United are looking for at the moment as he is comfortable on the ball and a far different option to Hojlund as the Brazilian can drop deep and link up play.

Cunha would be a strong signing however for the price, it might be one which relies on sales given how defence is undeniably the top priority.
