"I was told": Crystal Palace actually have a major concern about Marc Guehi - Journalist

Marc Guehi is currently shining brightly for England in the 2024 European Championships, but Crystal Palace have one major concern over him.

For Crystal Palace, this summer has gotten off to a positive start, with no big exits as of yet along with the club securing two top targets.

Chadi Riad is signed, sealed and delivered, while the final announcement of Daichi Kamada‘s deal is yet to be completed.

But all the while, Michael Olise and Marc Guehi are attracting a huge amount of interest, which indicates Palace could face a fight to keep them.

For Olise, Chelsea seems desperate to bring him in while Guehi continues to be linked with Manchester United who could even offer a player. Now, it’s been reported that the Eagles actually have one major concern about Guehi right now.

What Crystal Palace are worried about when it comes to Marc Guehi

Guehi is one of the three players almost sure to be sought after this summer and after an impressive opening game in the 2024 Euros, Guehi’s stock only continued to rise.

Now valued at £65m, the club could see this rise further with subsequent impressive outings in the tournament, however speaking on TalkSPORT on Tuesday morning, Alex Crook has admitted that Palace are concerned about Guehi more than Olise or Ebere Eze.

“I was told a few weeks ago of all the Palace players, I know you (Alan Pardew) are a big fan of Olise and Eze as well, actually the players they were most concerned about being prized away this summer was Guehi.”

This is quite surprising to hear considering Guehi is the one player without a release clause, meaning he can be kept. Although it does make us think back to reports in May which suggested that Guehi was keen to depart this coming summer.

Crystal Palace are already prepared for Guehi’s exit

Guehi’s exit is something that will have been expected long in advance and this has given Palace the chance to arrange replacements.

Riad joins the club as an exciting prospect in defence, although it’d be unfair for him to take up the mantle of replacing Guehi at centre-half.

So with Guehi’s potential sale on the cards, a second centre-half addition could be required.

If another addition is to occur, Palace have already got several options which have been looked at this summer, but Maxence Lacroix is probably the best option of all.
