Report: What Chelsea plan to do with Noni Madueke if they sign Michael Olise after Newcastle rumour

Newcastle United’s bid to sign a right winger this summer could be heavily influenced by Chelsea.

The Magpies have already missed out on Tosin Adarabioyo to Chelsea, and now the Blues want another player who Eddie Howe would love to sign.

Michael Olise is on Newcastle’s radar, with Toon officials making contact with Crystal Palace about possibly bringing the 22-year-old to St James’ Park. A deal will not be cheap, with Olise having a £60million release clause in his contract.

On top of that, there is a lot of competition for his signature. Chelsea are one of the clubs that are trying to sign him, and appear to be pushing the hardest.

Newcastle United interested in Noni Madueke as Michael Olise alternative

If Chelsea do sign Olise, that could force Noni Madueke down the pecking order, and he is another winger that Newcastle United are interested in.

It has been theorised that missing out on Olise to Chelsea could result in the Magpies getting Madueke, which is not a bad consolation given his talent. After a tough start at Stamford Bridge, the 22-year-old was really starting to make an impression towards the end of last season.

He would be an exciting signing for Newcastle, but a new update suggests that he might not actually be available.

Chelsea’s plan for Noni Madueke

According to the Athletic, Chelsea signing Olise would not necessarily mean that Madueke would leave.

They state that the Blues see things differently, and would have Olise and Madueke as their two right wing options for the 2024/25 season. That decision would also be influenced by Cole Palmer, who will reportedly play more centrally for Chelsea next season as an attacking midfielder.

Potential double blow for Newcastle

Perhaps Newcastle will not get Madueke as a consolation prize if Chelsea sign Olise. That is at least not what the Blues want, as they appear to be preparing to keep the former PSV Eindhoven player.

For the Magpies, it is important that they get this signing right. Their marquee addition this summer is going to be a winger, and it could prove to be one of the club’s most expensive signings ever. A lot of money will be spent, and it must be spent wisely.

They will feel that a deal for Olise would be money well spent, but that deal feels unlikely given the competition. A move for Madueke would be less favourable, but he might not be available regardless.

Newcastle may have to delve deeper into their shortlist of targets, with other players linked including Jarrod Bowen, Nico Williams and Pedro Neto. They would be exciting alternatives, while there is a chance that Eddie Howe’s main target is yet to be revealed.
