Report: World Cup finalist yet to respond to new contract offer from club, after links to Newcastle

A FIFA World Cup finalist is reportedly yet to respond to a new contract offer from his club after rumoured interest from Newcastle United.

The Magpies are eager to make a splash this summer in the transfer window having missed out on Europe this season, with Newcastle reportedly closing in on the signing of James Trafford from Burnley.

With Lloyd Kelly already confirmed after arriving for free from AFC Bournemouth, it’s clear that Newcastle are keen to make a number of statement signings this summer as Eddie Howe aims to challenge for Europe next season.

And Newcastle could now have a boost in their bid to sign one top player.

Adrien Rabiot yet to sign new Juventus contract amid Newcastle interest

According to Gazzetta dello Sport, midfielder Adrien Rabiot is yet to respond to Juventus’ latest contract offer, with Newcastle recently linked with a move for the France international.

A star performer at the 2022 World Cup as Les Bleus made it all the way to the final, Rabiot has been linked with a Premier League move for quite some time, with this summer potentially the window the former PSG star finally makes the switch.

And with Newcastle in the market for a midfielder, Rabiot could be the dream signing for the Magpies, with the France international currently in the best form of his career after a sensational U-turn at Juventus.

Indeed, the midfielder not penning a new deal is good news for Newcastle, yet with no European football next season, the Magpies could struggle to attract Rabiot to St. James’ Park this summer, even with a healthy financial package.

Toon might need a miracle to sign Rabiot from Juventus this summer

Had Newcastle qualified for Europe next season, there’s a good chance that the Toon would have found themselves as one of the most attractive sides on the continent for top players looking for a new challenge.

However, in the case of Rabiot, Newcastle might need a miracle if they’re to land the French international, who might be well stay at Juventus or move on to another top side in Europe.

Whilst there is a chance Newcastle could land the midfielder, the odds seem slim, even after this update, and the Toon might need a miracle if they’re to secure the Juventus star this summer.
