James Maddison issues three-word message with Tottenham opening 2024/25 against Leicester City

Tottenham Hotspur midfielder James Maddison has shared a three-word message following the news of their opening fixture against Leicester City.

The summer may only have just started with the transfer window opening and the Euros beginning, but the Premier League fixtures have now just landed.

Ange Postecoglou will be looking to earn his first win on an opening day as the Spurs manager following their draw away to Brentford last term.

For Tottenham, they will have to wait until the final game of the opening weekend to play with a trip to Leicester City on Monday 19 August.

It will be a return to the King Power Stadium for James Maddison who made the move from the Foxes to Spurs last summer following their relegation.

But the Englishman has now taken to social media to share his thoughts following the fixture release for the 2024/25 campaign.

What James Maddison said after finding out Tottenham will play Leicester City

Over the years, there have been some sensational games between these two sides with goals galore being the theme of this fixture.

One of Tottenham’s best memories against the Foxes was their stunning late comeback at the King Power when Steven Bergwijn scored twice in extra time.

During Antonio Conte’s time at the helm in 2022, Spurs went from 2-1 behind to 3-2 ahead deep into injury time to flip the game on its head.

The Tottenham social media team posted a video of the game following the fixture announcement, a game which Maddison was involved in for Leicester.

Maddison may even have thought he had sealed the point for his former side after putting the Foxes 2-1 ahead in the 76th minute.

Looking back on the game, Maddison replied to the Spurs Instagram post with a three-word message: “No need admin”.

To which the Spurs admin replied simply saying: “Sorry”.

Even Bergwijn got in on the action with the former Spurs winger replying with the eyes emoji.

James Maddison will have all summer to recover

Unfortunately for Maddison, he was not included in Gareth Southgate’s final England squad for this summer’s Euros.

It will have been a real blow for the 27-year-old after what was a sensational start to the 2023/24 campaign.

However, he struggled to find his feet again having returned to action following months on the sidelines through a significant ankle injury.

Although it will have been frustrating for Maddison, it will mean he has the entire summer to return to his best by recovering through relaxation.

The midfielder will have had weeks off knowing he does not have return to club duty until next month as he will undoubtedly have his feet up in the sun for a number of weeks.
