Arsenal have a busy summer ahead of them on the transfer front, both in terms of incomings and outgoings.
The Gunners came close to winning the Premier League title last term and will be eager to keep building so they can go all the way next term.
Arsenal have been linked with a number of top players over the past few weeks, including one who has been backed to become “one of the best players in the Bundesliga”.
Now, according to GiveMeSport, the player in question is keen on moving to the Premier League after winning the German title last season.
Arsenal target Jeremie Frimpong keen on Premier League move
The player in question is Bayer Leverkusen full-back Jeremie Frimpong, who is currently at Euro 2024 with the Netherlands.
GiveMeSport have named him on their list of players at the tournament who could potentially change clubs this summer.
The report claims that Frimpong is keen on a Premier League move after winning the title with Xabi Alonso’s side last term.
However, a widely reported release clause of €40million (£34million) in the 23-year-old’s contract expired on 14 June, the day Euro 2024 began.
BILD have reported that Leverkusen value Frimpong at around £42million. His contract runs until 2028, so the club’s hand would be strong in negotiations.
Who is Arsenal target Jeremie Frimpong?
Frimpong has gone from strength to strength since joining Leverkusen in 2021, having previously shone at Celtic and also being on the books at Manchester City.
His record for the club reads 142 appearances, 25 goals and 32 assists. He has also won five caps for the Netherlands.
Frimpong registered 14 goals and 12 assists in 47 outings across all competitions for Leverkusen during the 2023/24 season.
He helped them win the Bundesliga title for the first time in their history, having impressed on the right-side of the back four.
The Bundesliga website has compared Frimpong’s style of play to that of Paris Saint-Germain and Morocco star Achraf Hakimi.
“Jeremie Frimpong has not only become one of our team’s best players, but in his position as an attacking right-back, he has become one of the best players in the Bundesliga,” Leverkusen sporting director Simon Rolfes has said.
