A Euro 2024 star: Wolves must target international hero who would return the club to Europe - opinion

Wolves must target one Romanian star who has shone at the 2024 Euros to help the Old Gold compete for European football once more.

Despite the early positive transfer activity from Wolves, more reinforcements are still needed.

One position that is in dire need of extra quality is out on the wings. Despite the acquisition of Rodrigo Gomes, there are still limited options in these areas.

It is widely expected that Pedro Neto will leave Wolves by the end of the window. On top of this, it is believed that Pablo Sarabia has been made available.

This leaves just Hwang Hee-Chan who is a natural winger left in Wolves’ squad.

Therefore, this article argues that Gary O’Neil should target Euro 2024 star and Romanian international Dennis Man to reinforce the Old Gold’s wings.

Before the Euros had started, Man had a fantastic season in Italy. Playing for Parma in Serie B, the winger scored 13 times and collected nine assists in 36 matches.

This form helped the former Europa League winners gain promotion back into the top flight as they won the second tier.

Now, the 25-year-old has continued his form into the European Championships. Against Ukraine, the Romanian was one of the stars as he collected two assists in a stunning 3-0 victory over Ukraine.

The win now puts the Eastern European side in an excellent position to qualify for the knockouts with two games left.

Man was predicted to be a big star when he was younger. In 2018, both Man United and Spurs were pursuing the winger according to the Daily Mail.

Now, after finding success at both FCSB and Parma, he has been linked to Borussia Dortmund.

It is believed that an offer between €15-18 million would be enough to secure his services with just a year left on his contract.

For a winger of his quality available for such a small price Wolves should make a move. He would be a brilliant option to have in the squad due to him being a regular international who is yet to hit his prime.

Wolves must be smart in the transfer market

If Wolves want to become a self-sufficient club, they must ensure that they are smart in the transfer market.

Selling Neto for £60 million and bringing in someone like Man for a third of the price would be excellent business and will give O’Neil more room to expand his depth.

Multiple positions need improvements this summer. At a minimum, in addition to a winger, a striker and a centre-back need to come in to help improve the quality of the side.

Therefore, selling big and buying low could help complete this task while still keeping a competitive side.
