Four Copa America 2024 stars Tottenham can scout for summer transfer, including Weston McKennie

Copa America 2024 is just around the corner, with a summer tournament that will have plenty of Tottenham representation.

Ange Postecoglou will have three of his stars away on international duty for the tournament, with plenty of hope that they can bring home a trophy.

Cristian Romero and Giovani Lo Celso will represent Argentina in the competition, who are the current holders of the title following victory in 2021.

Rodrigo Bentancur will also feature, playing for Uruguay who have won the Copa America 15 times, the last triumph coming back in 2011.

On top of the Tottenham players that will be watched over the next few weeks, there’s also a host of potential summer transfer options that could be scouted.

So with that said, here’s a look at several options Spurs could watch at Copa America 2024 for the transfer window.

Weston McKennie – USMNT

One option that Tottenham could scout is Juventus and USMNT midfielder Weston McKennie, who is set for a big role at Copa America 2024.

The 25-year-old has been linked with a transfer this summer, with the likes of Aston Villa and Spurs rumoured with a switch.

Following a campaign where he was a mainstay in the Serie A, McKennie could be an option that bolsters the central ranks for the coming campaign.

Postecoglou has the added challenge of Europa League football to contest with, meaning further depth is required.

Raphinha – Brazil

Another target to consider for the role of wide forward is Barcelona and Brazil star Raphinha.

Tottenham are on the lookout for a winger that can add to the squad, with a one-on-one ability that will beat defenders.

Raphinha looks set for a potential exit from the Blaugrana and an impressive Copa America may display exactly what he could bring to Spurs.

The 27-year-old scored six goals and assisted nine in a rotational role in La Liga, making 28 appearances for Barcelona.

Santiago Gimenez – Mexico

A striker is also toward the top of the Tottenham transfer shortlist, with Harry Kane’s exit yet to be fully accounted for.

Mexico striker Santiago Gimenez could suit that role perfectly, having been linked with a switch from Feyenoord.

The 23-year-old scored 23 goals and assisted six in 30 Eredivisie appearances, guiding the team to second and returning them to the Champions League.

There have been questions surrounding whether Gimenez is capable of translating those performances in the Netherlands to the big stage, which the Copa America will offer the chance to prove.

Ederson – Brazil

Switching back to the midfield targets and Brazil’s Ederson could be an option to consider for Tottenham this summer.

The Atalanta star has shown his ability to break up play effectively in the middle of the park, while also being more than comfortable when on the ball.

An impressive tournament with Brazil could see the 24-year-old earn a move, which may suit exactly what Tottenham need going forward.
