Report: Tottenham considering trading Radu Dragusin for 'quality' midfielder in swap deal this summer

Tottenham Hotspur are now considering exchanging January signing Radu Dragusin for one of their summer targets.

The summer transfer window is now almost one week deep and Spurs have seen a number of players move on from the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Timo Werner marks the only arrival so far after the German put pen to paper on another loan in north London; this time a season-long deal.

But the focus has been on outgoings as Ange Postecoglou and Daniel Levy look to clear the decks of any unwanted players.

The Australian inherited a bloated side but has already brought in a number of his own players during his first two transfer windows at the club.

And it seems as if one of his January signings could be at risk of already being moved on in the shape of Radu Dragusin.

Tottenham eyeing move for Inter’s Kristjan Asllani

This summer is going to see Tottenham make some changes to their squad with the likes of Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg expected to move on.

According to Inter Live, Spurs are already eyeing up a potential replacement for the Denmark international with Kristjan Asllani.

The report claims the Albanian midfielder is attracting interest from a number of clubs this summer with Spurs one to pay close attention to.

For Inter to offload Asllani this summer, they would be looking for a fee in the region of €35m-€40m (£29.5m-£33.7m).

That figure may rise over the coming weeks with Asllani currently representing Albania at the Euros where he put in a solid display against Italy over the weekend.

His Inter teammate Hakan Calhanoglu has already hailed the exciting youngster as “quality” following some of his showings last season.

However, it is also suggested that Tottenham could look to offer January signing Dragusin in a potential deal to bring the 22-year-old midfielder to north London.

Tottenham cannot give up on Radu Dragusin already

Landing at Hotspur Way halfway through the season was always going to provide Dragusin with a difficult task to break the partnership between Cristian Romero and Micky van de Ven.

But Postecoglou should have taken some encouragement from Dragusin’s displays in the final games of the season with the Dutch centre-back covering at left-back.

More recently, Dragusin put in one of the more impressive displays of this summer’s Euros in Romania’s victory over Ukraine on Monday.

  • 90 minutes played
  • 10 clearances
  • 2 blocked shots
  • 1 interception
  • 1/1 ground duels won

The 2024/25 campaign is going to provide Spurs with a much busier schedule where rotation will be key for Postecoglou, surely they won’t weaken their squad by offloading Dragusin already.
