Howie Mandel recently appeared on the nationally syndicated talk show Live with Kelly and Mark to talk about America’s Got Talent, along with a Vegas trip that turned into a vacation nightmare.

Canadian comedian, actor, television personality, and producer Howard Mandel is known for voicing Gizmo in the 1984 movie Gremlins and the 1990 sequel Gremlins 2: The New Batch.

The three reminisced on the last time they spoke, about Vegas, to which Howie began to tell a horror story about an accident that occurred in their hotel room.

Mandel explained “I took my lovely bride, who is lovely, much more lovely than I am, I took her out for dinner”, and he proceeded to joke that they partied “too much.”

Howie was unaware that his wife was “tipsy” and stated that she got up in the middle of the night and “headed into the wall” before falling and hitting the wainscoting, which is a room or wall with wooden paneling:

“She hit that as she went down, she slipped, went down, hit that on her eye, then fell on the floor and broke her cheek.”

When people asked what happened at the time, Howie’s wife Terry jokingly told them “Vegas.”

Mandel then shared a graphic image of his wife, showing a two-inch cut on her forehead and a dark purple bruise around her eye. The TV star admitted that he started panicking seeing all the blood coming from her head:

“Blood is pooling out and I freaked out. I picked her up, I put her on the bed. There’s blood everywhere. I saw her head, and you could actually see her skull. It opened up. I freaked.”

Vegas horror story ended with a night in hospital

Terry demanded ice from her husband, but Howie could only find cold drinks in the mini bar, so he tried wrapping cans of soda up to soothe her head, but she screamed out in pain and threw them across the room.

Mandel said when he called hotel staff, instead of calling 911, the hotel sent 10 security guards to his room to check out the situation.

When security quickly arrived, Howie recalls being “stood in his underpants” and seeing people taking pictures of the blood on the floor, and the cans thrown around the room.

He joked that it did not look good for him at that moment, and host Mark Consuelos teased: “It’s a crime scene!”

Terry was ultimately brought to the hospital and Howie recalls a funny moment proving she was still intoxicated, showing the audience a photo of her lying in a hospital bed when she asked the doctor why she couldn’t see out of her left eye, to which the doctor instructed her to take the sheet off of her face.

The 68-year-old has been married to his partner Terry Mandel since 1980 and the pair are parents to three children, Alex, Jackie, and Riley.

Mandel said his wife has since made a full recovery, describing her as “absolutely perfect” and stating that Terry does not have a scar despite the graphic injury.
