Three teams chasing Tanguy Ndombele transfer after Tottenham exit

Former Tottenham star Tanguy Ndombele has been linked with a move to three clubs in the summer transfer window.

Ndombele is a free agent after Tottenham reached a mutual agreement to end his contract early while one year was still remaining.

The 27-year-old failed to live up to the price tag paid for his services, which cost £63million and broke the Spurs’ all-time record transfer fee.

In 91 appearances for the Lilywhites, Ndombele scored ten goals and assisted nine times, with disappointing performances leading to his exit.

Loan spells with Lyon, Napoli and Galatasaray followed, but it was clear that his path had taken him away from Hotspur Way.

Tanguy Ndombele transfer future

With Ndombele’s exit from Tottenham confirmed, there are questions over where his next destination may well be.

Plenty of clubs could look to harness his quality to land the star that Spurs thought they were getting when shelling out the transfer fee they did.

According to RMC journalist Fabrice Hawkins, three clubs are currently monitoring a potential deal for the playmaker.

It is claimed that French sides Nice, Lille and Marseille are showing interest, with the midfielder free to join without paying a transfer fee.

Were Tottenham right to end Tanguy Ndombele’s contract?

With one year remaining on his deal at the time, many will ask if Tottenham were right to end Ndombele’s contract early.

While there are clubs showing interest, it’s likely due to the fact he is a free transfer, meaning Spurs won’t have landed any extra value on the transfer front if the attacking midfielder did stay.

In terms of his role in the squad, some could argue that he may have a place under Ange Postecoglou.

However, the Tottenham boss has already made it clear that players must fit his style with unwavering commitment and that’s something that cannot be guaranteed with Ndombele at this stage.

In the end, following all the struggles, it’s just a transfer that didn’t work out for any of the parties involved.

In total, Tottenham wasted almost £100million for Ndombele with the transfer fees and wages involved, marking it down as a bad period that has come to an end.
