New West Ham away shirt with holy feature and fresh sponsor is leaked

The new West Ham away shirt with a holy feature and a fresh sponsor has been leaked online and confirmed by a club insider.

Remember the days when West Ham would unveil their new kit for the following season in the last game of the campaign?

Those days are long gone. So it is one of the features of the summer that West Ham fans start looking for information on the club’s forthcoming new strips.

Many West Ham supporters have wanted the club to ditch Umbro and sign up with a different kit manufacturer.

And with good reason.

The ‘You’ve been Tango’d’ orange and white third kit from the season before last looked to have been the final straw for many Hammers fans.

West Ham ended up making that kit somewhat iconic, though, when the Hammers won their first major trophy for 43 years last June.

Last year on Hammers News we reported on claims that the club were set to remain with Umbro in a deal worth over £7m per season.

Umbro dividing opinion yet again

That sparked disappointment among some West Ham fans who have called for Umbro to seriously start to up its game.

In fairness Umbro have come up with some decent efforts over the years. But some have been instantly forgettable and regrettable. Many of the third strips they produce are so poorly thought out in terms of colours and style they end up barely being worn by the team.

Many also feel the kit maker often gets the shades of claret and blue on the home strip completely wrong.

Earlier this month the new home shirt was leaked. And it showed Umbro’s logo with a bright red diamond inside standing out like a sore thumb.

Reaction was pretty scathing from the Hammers faithful on social media, West Ham chat groups and fan forums.

Now the new West Ham away shirt with a holy feature and fresh sponsor has been leaked.

Not only has the West Ham kit been leaked, it’s been confirmed as legitimate by a club insider too.

The black kit has claret piping on the sleeves and around the badge. Once again the awful red diamond in Umbro’s logo sticks out like a sore thumb.

The most unusual feature is the Church of St Mary-le-Bow imprinted in the background of the shirt.

Whether that famous landmark is recognisable in person remains to be seen.

It does at least have a relevance to West Ham’s history as the home of the ‘Bow Bells’. But there’s no hiding the fact it does look a touch odd in the picture.

Another new feature is the change in sleeve sponsor from from JD Sports to Quickbooks – an accounting software brand.

According to insider Sean Whetstone, the black strip – which would normally be the club’s third shirt – is the new away kit and will be released late July.

“Leaked photo of West Ham away shirt for the 2024/2025 season,” Whetstone said.

“Sleeve sponsor changes from JD Sports to Quickbooks.

“Black material has the Church of St Mary-le-Bow background imprinted. Due for release in late July.”

When does West Ham’s deal with Umbro end?

There has been some confusion over when West Ham’s deal with Umbro ends.

The Hammers were in the last season of a five-year deal with kit maker Umbro back in 2019 when it was renewed.

The British firm, which made West Ham’s first ever replica kits, had replaced fans’ favourites Adidas.

In the summer of 2019 the Hammers announced a renewal with Umbro until the end of the 2022-2023 campaign.

A year later West Ham made a new announcement ‘confirming a new long-term extension with Umbro’.

But it did not specify the end date for the deal and there has been no update since.
