Report: Arsenal interested in signing 'influential' Chelsea player, he wants to become a Blues legend

Arsenal are reportedly keen on signing one player from Chelsea this summer.

Chelsea and Arsenal did business in the last summer transfer window, with the Blues selling Kai Havertz to their London rivals.

They also sold Jorginho to the Gunners last year, so business between the two clubs is not unusual.

A current member of Enzo Maresca‘s squad is now said to be attracting interest from Arsenal.

However, Mikel Arteta could face a lot of competition if he really does want to sign him this summer.

Premier League clubs want Chelsea star

Chelsea missed out on the top four last season, finishing in sixth place.

Nevertheless, they still have a squad of very capable footballers.

The above includes Conor Gallagher, who now appears to be on Arsenal’s radar.

According to AS, Arsenal, as well as the likes of Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur, are interested in signing Gallagher this summer.

The same outlet claims that Gallagher wants to stay at Chelsea and become a club legend, but the Blues could still sell him for €50m (£42m).

Chelsea selling Conor Gallagher to Arsenal would be unforgivable

Gallagher was one of Chelsea’s best players last season.

In fact, on WhoScored, only Cole Palmer (7.43) recorded a higher average match rating than the midfielder (7.13), who has been described as “influential” by Joe Cole.

Arsenal finished second in the 2023/24 Premier League campaign, just two points behind champions Manchester City.

That is the level the Blues are obviously aiming to get to. Selling one of their key players to a direct rival is not going to help them get there.

Of course, with a new manager at the club, Gallagher’s importance to the team could decrease. But he is loved by the fans and clearly has something to offer, which is why some supporters are going to be fuming if he ends up joining Arsenal this summer.

If the England international does not sign a new contract, though, then a big decision is obviously going to have to be made.
