Report: Leeds United now close to agreeing second major summer exit after Marc Roca deal

Leeds United are closing in on sealing another major exit this summer.

The Whites made progress on the permanent sale of Marc Roca earlier today with Real Betis now expected to finalise a move for the 27-year-old in the coming days.

Roca is set to become Leeds’ first departure of the summer and had initially been set to move back to Betis on loan, but they have instead moved to tie up a permanent switch.

Leeds have already acknowledged player sales are going to be key to complying with PSR and with the end of the financial year on June 30 approaching, stuff is clearly happening behind-the-scenes.

In what is good news, Leeds are said to be happy to be moving Roca off the wage bill, in a deal that will not represent a loss on the club’s accounts.

Major update emerges on Jack Harrison’s Leeds future

It has clearly been a busy day behind-the-scenes at Leeds with Roca not the only exit that is on the verge of being agreed.

Despite Paraag Marathe insisting Leeds are in a better position with the returning loanees this summer, there are still a couple who have the clause to leave temporarily again.

Jack Harrison is thought to be one of them, and according to the Athletic, there has been a breakthrough in his prospective return to Everton.

Harrison is now reportedly close to moving back to Goodison Park on loan for a second successive season, though it is not completely finalised yet.

The 27-year-old is keen on a move back to Everton this summer and it would appear he is set to get his way, with the Toffees not expected to pay a loan fee, but cover the entirety of his wages.

Harrison remains under contract at Elland Road until 2028 and so in terms of his value, it shouldn’t hamper Leeds’ hopes of getting a decent fee when he is eventually sold.

Harrison loan deal a lasting impact of Victor Orta at Leeds

Harrison was only handed a new deal at Leeds in April of the season that the Whites went onto be relegated.

A loan clause in one summer was bad enough, but for him to have inserted it for multiple shows just how poor Victor Orta was at his job as sporting director.

At the time of his contract, there was a very real possibility Leeds would be headed for the Championship and so questions have to be asked as to why this clause was inserted.

In any case, at least Harrison will be off the wage bill for another season.
