'He will join': Sky journalist says West Ham are set to sign player Jurgen Klopp once deemed 'incredible'

West Ham United have been pretty busy on the transfer front over the past few weeks and it looks like another deal is now on the cards.

The Hammers have already signed one player this summer, Luis Guilherme joining the east Londoners from Brazilian club Palmeiras.

West Ham have a new manager on board in Julen Lopetegui and the Premier League club will be eager to give him the necessary tools to hit the ground running.

Now, according to Sky Sports journalist Dharmesh Sheth, the Hammers are set to bring in a goalkeeper, with one of their current stoppers set to move away.

West Ham agree terms with Wes Foderingham

Sheth has taken to X to report that West Ham have agreed terms with Wes Foderingham, whose Sheffield United contract expires soon.

The 33-year-old will reportedly join the Hammers on a free transfer, having penned a two-year contract at the London Stadium.

Foderingham looks set to replace Nathan Trott, who is finalising a £1.5million move to FC Copenhagen, added Sheth.

Who is West Ham target Wes Foderingham?

Wes Foderingham came through the ranks at Fulham before linking up with Crystal Palace’s academy in 2010.

After taking in loan spells at Bromley and Histon, he joined Swindon in 2011, where he made a name for himself, making 191 appearances for the Robins.

Foderingham’s efforts in Wiltshire saw him snapped up by Scottish side Rangers in 2015, and he went on to spend five years at Ibrox and make 143 appearances.

He then joined Sheffield United in 2020 and he once again clocked up over 100 appearances, of which 30 came in the Premier League last term.

Although the Blades struggles last season, Foderingham did have his moments. Indeed, former Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp was blown away by his display against the Reds in December 2023.

“I think Mo (Salah) had after a corner where it was an incredible save from the goalie,” he told the official Reds website.

“I have no clue how he kept that out of the goal, and other moments where we could have played better.”
