Arsenal ‘frustrated’ after receiving ‘no response’ from £52m transfer target after contract offer

Arsenal are losing patience with one summer transfer target who has so far ignored the offer tabled to him by the club.

Arsenal are keen to bolster their midfield unit this summer, with a number of potential targets currently being considered by Mikel Arteta.

The Gunners need to address their lack of depth in this part of the pitch. Mohamed Elneny has already left the Emirates Stadium, Jorginho is no longer able to start every game at this stage in his career, and Arsenal are keen to cash in on Thomas Partey.

Arteta needs to find a long-term partner for Declan Rice. However, one of the targets that the North London club are pursuing has been less than receptive to their advances so far.

Martin Zubimendi silent after Arsenal approach

Arsenal have been linked with a move for Martin Zubimendi for some time, with it known that the Real Sociedad star has a £52 million release clause in his current contract.

It would seem that the Gunners are willing to trigger his release clause with the La Liga outfit, but will only do so if it is clear that the player himself is open to making a switch to the Premier League.

According to Football Transfers, Arsenal are now growing “frustrated” with the 25-year-old, as he has so far offered “no response” since being offered a wage package by the English side.

Whilst the situation surrounding his price tag is as straightforward as it gets, there are clearly complications when it comes to discerning the player’s intentions.

If this situation persists, then the Gunners must give up the chase and take their search for midfield reinforcement elsewhere.

Arsenal eyeing up Bruno Guimaraes deal to support Declan Rice

Looking beyond Zubimendi, Arsenal are also keen to strike a deal for Bruno Guimaraes, and are willing to consider a cash-plus-player deal in order to prise the Brazil international away from Newcastle United this summer.

Whoever the Gunners decided is the man to bring into their midfield contingent, it is vital that they can compliment Rice. They need to be able to play alongside, and offer cover for, the former West Ham United man, as well as being able to accommodate his versatility, which allows him to make an impact at both ends of the pitch.
