‘Want him badly’: Chelsea think ‘special’ player would be perfect to play alongside Cole Palmer - Romano

Fabrizio Romano has claimed that Chelsea have identified a potential transfer target who would fit into their current squad absolutely perfectly.

Work has already begun on getting a number of players through the door in order to ensure the best possible backing is given to new managerEnzo Maresca.

They completed the signing of defender Tosin Adarabioyo on a free, with a number of top clubs looking at him after he left Fulham.

Now, they are looking to add to their strength in attack, and sign a player described by his former manager, Patrick Vieira, as ‘special’.

It has been reported that the Blues have made Michael Olise their number one target for a new signing this summer.

Chelsea think Michael Olise would be perfect alongside Palmer

Despite the fact that Crystal Palace have now offered him a new contract, it has been claimed there is still confidence for Chelsea to get the deal done.

Romano claimed on PlayBack that he believes the Blues see the addition as the perfect player to feature alongside current superstar Cole Palmer.

He said: “Chelsea want Olise badly, the player feels that obsession. Chelsea believe he would be perfect to play with Mudryk, with Palmer and others. Chelsea have made a strong financial offer to Olise.”

Chelsea being so keen to pull off a deal could be a crucial factor in swaying Olise to join them, with a number of top clubs interested in bringing him in.

Noni Madueke could be sold

The quality he showed in an injury-hit season makes it clear to see what a fantastic addition he would be for any club who manages to sign him this summer.

He would likely become an instant starter on the right of attack, which could spell bad news for current star Noni Madueke.

Despite a strong end to the season for the Englishman, this potential signing could see him struggle for minutes, with reports already beginning to spread that he could even be on the move.
