‘Honestly’: Aberdeen striker responds when asked if he would like to join Celtic

With the Celtic fans looking forward to the club announcing their first summer signing, one player has spoken out when asked directly if he would like to join the Scottish champions.

Celtic have been linked to several players now and whilst the goalkeeping position is the priority for Brendan Rodgers, it’s no secret that the Hoops boss is looking to strengthen other areas of the pitch.

One position that needs to be addressed is in the forward areas where, should Hyeongyu Oh leave, Kyogo Furuhashi would be the only recognised first-team striker at the club.

With Rodgers keen on bringing Adam Idah back to Celtic, another striker was asked if he wants to go to Paradise after making his intentions clear that he wants to leave Aberdeen this summer.

Duk responds when asked if he would join Celtic

Aberdeen striker, Duk, has made it clear to the Pittodrie club that he intends to leave in the summer. After two seasons in the Granite City, the Cape Verde international forward is now seeking a new challenge.

Speaking to Portuguese media outlet, Maisfutebol, Duk was asked if he would want to make the switch to Paradise in the summer.

Duk said, “There are many things on the table. It’s time to evaluate what’s best for me and the clubs too.

“My dream is to play in the main European leagues.

“English, Spanish, Italian and German leagues, for me they are very competitive championships and it is a goal for any player to play in these.

”There were two great seasons. The first one, especially, was better. It’s a competitive championship.

“Apart from Celtic and Rangers, the other teams are very competitive.

“Very physical football, a lot of counterattacks and a lot of hitting.

“It wasn’t easy. The training is very heavy compared to Portugal.

“I feel very loved at Aberdeen, they are special fans and they experience football like no one else.

“Honestly, I would like to try another championship.”

Duk has had a fairly successful time at Aberdeen. Advised to join the club by former Celtic winger, Jota, the 25-year-old had a great first season up north.

18 goals and six assists in 43 games helped Aberdeen to a 3rd placed finish and into European group-stage football.

However, Aberdeen’s struggles last season meant the Duk’s goalscoring form also suffered as he managed just seven goals in 47 appearances. [Transfermarkt]

Big and strong, Duk would certainly give Celtic a different option up front but after making his intentions clear, it seems that he wants to try his luck abroad and leave the Scottish Premiership for good.
