Report: 24-goal Wolves striker target now agrees move elsewhere, he's set to earn £49,000 per week

A player who was recently suggested as a potential transfer target for Wolves is now set to complete a domestic move to a big club.

Gary O’Neil is looking to bring in a new striker for Wolves.

Matheus Cunha and Hwang Hee-chan are the only options at the moment, with neither of those players being natural centre-forwards.

Fabio Silva is highly likely to be sold, and Sasa Kalajdzic will be out injured until later this year, and O’Neil seemingly didn’t fancy him beforehand anyway.

So a new striker is a priority.

Previous targets Armando Broja and Che Adams have again been linked.

But recently, Wolves were said to be interested in a potential swoop for Michy Batshuayi – but the club will now need to forget about that one.

It was claimed recently that Wolves had Batshuayi on their radar.

The former Chelsea man had scored 24 goals across all competitions last term, and was seemingly someone who came under consideration. Part of the appeal may have been that Batshuayi’s contract at Fenerbahce is about to expire.

But Wolves may now need to move on from Batshuayi if there was indeed any intention to move for him.

BeIN Sports are reporting that Turkish giants Galatasaray have ‘made significant progress in the transfer’ of Batshuayi.

Gala have apparently offered a salary of €3 million per year, which equates to around £49,000 per week. He will also receive a signing-on bonus.

An announcement is expected at the end of the month when Batshuayi’s Fenerbahce contract expires. The contract that was offered was for three years.

No great loss

O’Neil needs a new striker this summer, but missing out on Batshuayi is no great loss for Wolves.

While he did score 24 goals across all competitions last season (five of which were penalties), the Belgian striker has not really proven himself in the Premier League previously.

He had spells with Chelsea and Crystal Palace, and managed to score just 15 goals in 77 appearances in the English top-flight.

Potentially, he could have made for a decent squad option. But as far as him coming in to be Wolves’ main number nine is concerned, Wanderers can probably do better.
