Alexander Isak issues honest verdict on Newcastle spell

Ahead of the summer window even opening, Isak had been linked with a possible move away from Newcastle.

This came with Howe’s side facing the PSR deadline this month with the need to generate some cash through offloading players.

Alongside Bruno Guimaraes, Isak would naturally offer Newcastle with the ability to bring in some serious money if they were to be sold.

But that would see Newcastle offloading one of their top players in order to meet the financial regulations.

Speaking to The Athletic, the 24-year-old admitted he is still loving life at Newcastle two years on from signing.

“I’m in good form and I’ve been playing well back home in Newcastle,” Isak said.

“Obviously you want results as well, but next time. I feel good and I am enjoying my football at Newcastle. I always give my all for the national team and I believe goals and results will come, for me and for Sweden.”

“I enjoy No 9, that’s my main position,” Isak added.

“I like freedom and it means I can drift out left, where I feel comfortable as well and can create chances. But I don’t think too much about the position.”

Newcastle progressing contract talks with Alexander Isak

TBR understands talks over a new deal at progressing as Newcastle plan on making him the highest paid player at the club.

The prospect of losing Isak this summer will have been of huge concern to most Newcastle fans after a sensational return of 21 goals in the Premier League alone.

Finding a replacement for the Swede would prove both extremely difficult and extremely expensive and could even set the Toon back in their project under Howe.

Instead, it looks like the player is happy on Tyneside and the club are keen to secure him down to an improved deal.
