Report: Newcastle face losing 'outstanding' £20m Steve Bruce signing after interest from Saudi Arabia

Newcastle could lose a player they signed in 2020 this summer transfer window, according to a recent report.

The Magpies are one of the clubs under pressure to sell this month, with Financial Fair Play regulations likely to prevent them from making any signings until July – the start of the new financial year.

As such, there could be a number of departures from St James’ Park and one key figure is now attracting interest from the Saudi Pro League.

Al Nassr interested in Callum Wilson

According to ESPN, Saudi Pro League side Al Nassr are interested in signing Newcastle United striker Callum Wilson.

It’s thought that Eddie Howe is eager to keep the 32-year-old at the club, however, his current contract complicates things.

With just a year left on his deal, Newcastle don’t want to risk losing him on a free next summer, so now could be the right time to cash in on him.

As such, club chiefs may sanction a sale but only if his valuation is met, otherwise, he’s likely to remain on Tyneside

Atletico Madrid were interested in signing Wilson during the January transfer window but at this stage, it seems they won’t reignite it due to the emergence of Samu Omorodion.

Time is right for Callum Wilson to leave

Now seems the right time for Wilson to depart Newcastle United.

He isn’t getting any younger and injuries have plagued him for a few years – which has seen him lose his place up top to Alexander Isak.

So, perhaps for all parties, his exit should be seriously considered.
