'World-class': Jermaine Jenas blown away by £25m Euro 2024 attacker who Spurs reportedly want to sign

Tottenham Hotspur look set for a busy summer in the transfer market as Ange Postecoglou looks to bolster his ranks.

Postecoglou guided Spurs to fifth place in the Premier League and a spot in the Europa League for next season.

Tottenham were much improved from the 2022/23 campaign, in which they limped to an eighth-placed finish, and will be eager to kick on in 2024/25.

Plenty of top players have been linked with Spurs over the past few weeks and, with Euro 2024 now in full swing, the continent’s best will be firmly in the shop window.

Jermaine Jenas raves about Tottenham target Arda Guler

The player in question is Real Madrid’s Arda Guler. Earlier this year, Sport claimed that Tottenham were considering a potential summer approach for the 19-year-old.

More recently, the likes of Manchester City, Arsenal, Liverpool, Bayern Munich, Paris Saint-Germain and AC Milan have reportedly entered the race for Guler too.

And on Tuesday, the Turkey international marked his Euro 2024 bow with a sensational goal to help his nation run out 3-1 winners over Georgia.

Guler put Turkey 2-1 up with a long-range effort into the top corner of Georgia’s net in the 65th minute.

BBC Sport pundit and former Tottenham midfielder Jermaine Jenas loved what he saw from Guler.

“It just opened up perfectly for him,” Jenas said on BBC One. “He’s on his left foot, he’s had a little look and said to the goalkeeper “pick that one out”.

“The 19-year-old shining on the biggest stage in European football.”

Jenas later went on to say: “Georgia have definitely performed well but they have just been outdone at the minute by a world-class finish from a top youngster.”

And when Guler was substituted, Jenas added: “What a way to bow out.

“It is a strike Arda Guler will want to see over and over again and one that has put a smile on the faces of the fans in the stadium.

“He’s earned his standing ovation as he steps off the pitch.”

Tottenham may struggle to sign Guler this summer

Arda Guler needed some time to find his feet at Real Madrid following his £25million move (Goal.com), in wake of injury issues that hampered his first few months at the Bernabeu.

However, the 19-year-old featured more prominently towards the end of last season, and the club has made it clear he’s not going anywhere.

Now, with Guler staking an early claim to be the rising star of the tournament, it’s even less likely that Real will part company with him now.

With that in mind, Tottenham will probably have to acknowledge that they may struggle to convince Los Blancos to send Guler their way.
