'Absolute perfect fit': Stan Collymore tells Michael Edwards to sign £60m player for Liverpool this summer

Liverpool are likely to be busy in the summer transfer window as Michael Edwards and Richard Hughes look to revamp the Reds squad.

The Anfield outfit is at the beginning of a new era, with Arne Slot taking over from Jurgen Klopp as Reds manager.

Edwards and Hughes will be eager to give the new Liverpool boss all the tools he needs to hit the ground running at Anfield.

Liverpool have been linked with many world-class players in recent weeks, including one of the Premier League’s most sought-after attackers.

And now, Anfield cult hero Stan Collymore has urged the club to swoop in ahead of the likes of Chelsea in pursuit of said player.

Stan Collymore urges Liverpool to sign Michael Olise

The player in question is Michael Olise, who has gone from strength to strength at Crystal Palace.

Leeds Live have claimed that Liverpool have ended their interest in Leeds United’s Crysencio Summerville and are now prioritising a swoop for Olise instead.

The Frenchman has also been linked with the likes of Chelsea, Newcastle United, Aston Villa, Arsenal and Manchester United in recent months.

However, Collymore, writing on CaughtOffside, is adamant that Olise would be a perfect fit for Liverpool.

“He’s going to end up at another Premier League club this summer,” wrote Collymore. “I think it would make perfect sense for Liverpool.

“If I’m Olise and I’ve got a choice of Liverpool, Chelsea, Spurs, what have you – I’m going for Liverpool all day long.

“For me, if you’re looking at two clubs whereby one could still go horribly wrong (the Chelsea experiment) as well it could go right, whereas Liverpool are back in the Champions League and still have world-class players doing world-class things… then I think he would better-served and thrown to the wolves less by going for the latter.

“Look at Mykhailo Mudryk and Enzo Fernadez who have been hammered left, right and centre. Liverpool would be a better option for him.

“I can see him as an absolute perfect fit! Get the job done, Michael Edwards and Richard Hughes!”

Who is Liverpool target Michael Olise?

London-born Olise was with a number of top academies as a youngster (Arsenal, Chelsea and Manchester City) before linking up with Reading in 2017.

He rose through the ranks and broke into the Royals first-team squad in 2019 before earning himself a move to Palace in 2021, where he has become a star.

The 22-year-old has made 90 competitive appearances for the Eagles and has registered an impressive 16 goals and 25 assists.

Olise has also been capped seven times for France’s Under-21s, and surely it won’t be long before he’s in the senior squad picture.

The £60million-rated ace would be a great option for Liverpool. He can score goals, provide assists, is a great dribbler and has a lot of experience in the Premier League too.
