What Chelsea star Cole Palmer did when Gareth Southgate approached him after England’s draw vs Denmark

One Chelsea first team player will no doubt be extremely frustrated with the part he has been able to play in the European Championships so far this summer.

Cole Palmer enjoyed arguably the best first season at a new club in Premier League history, with him making a combined 42 goals and assists in all competitions.

His performances were noticed by his club teammates, who voted him to become the player of the season as far as they were concerned.

Palmer yet to play at Euro 2024

However, he is yet to play a minute for England at the European Championships, despite many calling for him to feature in either of the first two group games.

In the poor 1-1 draw with Denmark yesterday, manager Gareth Southgate made a number of changes to try and change the game.

While club teammate Conor Gallagher was brought on again, there was no room for one of the Premier League’s top performers to come on and make a difference.

With the youngster no doubt annoyed that he has been unable to make an impact so far, manager Southgate approached him after the game to shake his hand despite the fact that he has not yet touched the pitch.

Palmer and Southgate have frosty exchange

While the pair did embrace, a video posted on the Twitter page of ‘CWFCBrighty’ shows Palmer not even looking at the boss when he comes over.

A number of pundits after the game came out to question the decision to not feature him in any capacity as of yet, and how his presence could be crucial in England’s chances this summer.

England are back in action early next week, and while they are extremely likely to make it through the groups already, a win could be essential in giving themselves the best possible path towards the latter stages of the tournament this summer.
