‘Ideal target’: Chelsea looking to sign Premier League youngster who was on the bench as a 15-year-old

Chelsea are reportedly looking at a fellow Premier League club in order to try and sign their next top young player.

It has been a crucial part of the mantra ever since Todd Boehly took over as owner of the club that they would put a lot of impotence on signing some of the most promising prospects in the game ahead of their rivals.

They achieved this notably with the signing of Kendry Paez, who is set to join the club next summer.

He is already a regular starter for the Ecuador senior side, looking ahead to what is sure to be a huge breakout tournament at the Copa America.

They were reportedly very close to announcing the signing of Brazilian defender Pedro Lima, with the intention of him to join Strasbourg with a clear path down the road to make the move to Stamford Bridge.

However, it has now been reported that the deal has been hijacked by Wolves, with him set to move there.

Chelsea want Wesley Okoduwa

Whether it is somewhat of a retaliation or not, it has now been claimed the Blues are looking to Molineux for their next target in the role, in the form of 16-year-old Wesley Okoduwa.

According to The Secret Scout, the Blues are pushing to agree a fee over his move.

They said: “Chelsea actively pursuing deal to sign 16-year-old Wes Okoduwa from Wolves. Chelsea see right-back as ideal target to fill U18 position. Talks ongoing with Wolves to agree a fee. Manchester United were also keen earlier this season.“

Okoduwa named on the bench at 15 years of age

The full-back has already had somewhat of a taste of Premier League action, being named on the bench a number of times for Wolves despite only being 15 years of age at the time.

It remains to be seen if the signings of young players will ever have an effect on their ability to bring stars in who will immediately help them.

One player they are reportedly prioritising is Michael Olise, who is wanted by a number of top clubs this summer.
