Fabrizio Romano issues fresh update on Rocco Vata's Celtic future

Celtic youngster Rocco Vata’s long-term future has become a talking point over the last few months at Parkhead.

The Republic of Ireland Under-21 international scored his first senior goal for the Bhoys this year and has a plethora of different offers on the table due to his contract now being up at the reigning Scottish Premiership champions, according to his father, Rudi.

Last week, the former Celtic man stated: “Rocco is a very unique boy. He has had 15 offers from 15 different clubs and he has still not decided where he wants to continue with his future.”

Clubs south of the border and around Europe are keen to land his services; nevertheless, discussions over an extension to his time at Celtic still haven’t ceased. Now, world-renowned journalist Fabrizio Romano has offered some fresh information on his situation.

Fabrizio Romano discusses Rocco Vata’s Celtic future

Taking to social media platform X, transfer expert Romano has revealed that Watford are now in talks to sign Vata, though he indicated that Celtic are still locked in talks over a new three-year contract for the 19-year-old.

He stated: “Watford have opened talks to sign Ireland U21 international forward Rocco Vata. 2005 born talent has also received new contract proposal from Celtic, no deal in place yet but talks still on. Bologna, Como and Forest already had proposals rejected for Vata.”

It is intriguing to note that Bologna, Como and Nottingham Forest have all been knocked back in their pursuit of Vata, but it isn’t clear from Romano’s wording whether the club or the player himself rejected these approaches.

Nevertheless, it is clear there needs to be a resolution. Vata has been in talks with Celtic for months over a new contract amid persistent interest; however, there hasn’t been any progress, which leaves more questions than answers for fans.

Vata is a prodigious talent who will want the best environment possible to develop in moving forward, but whether he stays at Parkhead remains to be seen.
