'I just don't understand': ESPN pundit left baffled by what's happened to Chelsea player at Euro 2024

Shaka Hislop has expressed his shock at what’s happened to one Chelsea player so far during the Euro 2024 tournament in Germany.

There’s a number of Chelsea stars away representing their respective nations at this summer’s major international competition.

While several Blues individuals are competing at the Euros, Enzo Maresca will surely have one eye on his players. Incidentally, he officially starts his role as the new head coach at Stamford Bridge on 1 July.

Unfortunately, it’s not all gone smoothly for Chelsea’s players in the opening couple of weeks of the Euros.

ESPN pundit baffled by treatment of Chelsea player

ESPN pundit Shaka Hislop thinks that Chelsea’s Cole Palmer, 22, has been really unfortunate not to play any minutes yet at Euro 2024.

He’s been an unused substitute in England’s two group stage matches so far, beating Serbia before drawing against Denmark.

“They (England) need that spark. Give Palmer that runout. I just don’t understand why you don’t use Palmer,” Hislop told ESPN.

Cole Palmer must be raring to go

There’s not a Chelsea player that went into this summer in better form than Palmer. It’s well known that he got 25 goals and 15 assists in 45 games for his new club last season.

It’s actually left-back Marc Cucurella who’s been the pick of the Blues stars at Euro 2024 so far.

For Palmer, he must be a so eager to get on the pitch for England and show what he can do on the biggest stage.

When you consider that the Three Lions attack has looked far from potent in the opening two games of the tournament, it’s surely crying out for someone like Palmer to ignite a creative spark.

Whether it’s in central or wide attacking positions, the Chelsea man usually produces some kind of goalscoring threat.
