'Medical today': Fabrizio Romano says Aston Villa are about to sign truly 'outstanding' forward

Aston Villa have been busy on the transfer front over the past few weeks, and there has been a fair bit of movement in recent days.

For instance, the Villans are said to be close to wrapping up the player-plus-cash deal with Juventus involving Douglas Luiz, Enzo Barrenechea and Samuel Iling-Junior.

Villa are also closing in on Chelsea’s Ian Maatsen, who helped Borussia Dortmund reach the Champions League final in his loan stint earlier this year.

Now, Fabrizio Romano has provided another big update involving Villa and Everton, with both sides having been in talks over two of their players effectively swapping clubs.

Lewis Dobbin set to swap Everton for Aston Villa

The transfer insider, writing on X, said that Everton and Aston Villa have now completed the deals involving both Tim Iroegbunam and Lewis Dobbin.

Iroegbunam will be joining Everton from Villa on a permanent deal, with the medical having been completed yesterday.

Meanwhile, Dobbin is set to join the Villans from Goodison Park, with the medical taking place on Friday.

“Documents to review then all done,” concluded Romano.

Who is Aston Villa target Lewis Dobbin?

Lewis Dobbin is a 21-year-old forward who currently plies his trade for Everton and can play across the entire front line.

The Stoke-born talent joined the Toffees’ academy as a youngster and has risen through the ranks. He has also spent time on loan at Derby County.

Derby’s official website has described their former loanee as a ‘skilful and pacey striker who combines intelligent movement with ruthlessness in front of goal’.

In his 54 appearances for the Rams, Dobbin returned five goals and six assists, which led to manager Paul Warne singing his praises.

“He did some things outstanding, some things good and some things poor, which was the same with all the players,” he told the Limerick Live quoted him as saying.

Dobbin has made 20 competitive appearances for Everton’s senior team and scored his first career goal against Chelsea last December.
