Report: Alasdair Gold claims Tottenham are eyeing £46m player this summer who has lit up Euro 2024

Tottenham Hotspur are going to have to work on their interest in one of Euro 2024’s top performers with the Lilywhites just one of a number of sides keen.

Ange Postecoglou‘s first season in charge at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium provided a lot for fans to be excited about for things to come.

But it was not all plain sailing with Tottenham also experiencing some bumps along the way with injury riddling their squad over periods of the season.

Spurs played just one game more than the bare minimum last season but will face a much busier schedule in 2024/25 with a new look Europa League to contend with.

With that, Daniel Levy will need to ensure Postecolgou is going into the new term with a squad packed full of quality so the Australian can rotate his side reguarly.

So far, Timo Werner is the only arrival at Hotspur Way this summer but it seems Tottenham have their eyes on more forward additions.

Tottenham will need to work on £46m summer target

This summer’s Euros has provided teams like Tottenham with a real hurdle to overcome in the summer transfer window.

Ideally, Spurs would be getting their business done early in time for Postecoglou to have his new additions on board before the pre-season efforts.

Reality is that the transfer market is almost on hold for most with this summer’s Euros potentially changing the valuations on certain players.

But it is also providing the likes of Spurs an opportunity to have a better look at some of their potential summer targets.

According to Alasdair Gold, Tottenham are just one of the many sides across Europe who have Atletico Bilbao winger Nico Williams on their radar.

The Spaniard is tearing it up over in Germany at this summer’s European Championship and has caught the eye of many in the process.

However, any move for the 21-year-old is likely to be difficult with the youngster not having shown any indication of wanting to leave Bilbao yet.

As it stands, Atletico are now currently worried about losing him this summer.

Nico Williams seriously impressed against Italy

As Spain made it two wins from two, the 21-year-old was handed the man of the match award for his dazzling display.

Any prospective buyers watching will have been treated to an absolute masterclass of a performance from a winger.

And at just 21-years-old, Williams showed what he could offer Tottenham as a possible long-term replacement for Heung-min Son.

  • 78 minutes played
  • 60 touches
  • 4 key passes
  • 93% pass accuracy
  • 1 big chance created
  • 4/10 successful dribbles

It seems Spurs would need to put in the work to convince Williams of a move to north London this summer, but he could be worth every ounce of effort.
