'That's for sure': How much Leeds are set to get if they sell Crysencio Summerville this summer - journalist

Leeds United will be hoping Brighton & Hove Albion are not the only Premier League side to come to the table for Crysencio Summerville.

Leeds have not reportedly shown much in the way of determination behind-the-scenes to keep Summerville this summer and so a departure feels inevitable.

Paraag Marathe has acknowledged some players sales will be needed and it would appear Summerville is the one they are most willing to sacrifice, as apposed to a home grown talent like Archie Gray.

Brighton became the first side to enter talks over a deal for the 22-year-old earlier this week but are certainly not the only interested club from the top-flight.

In fact, Fabrizio Romano has earmarked the next few days as pivotal for Brighton to get a deal done before other sides firm up their interest.

How much Leeds will get for Summerville this summer

LeedsUnited.News spoke to transfer expert Graeme Bailey earlier this week with Summerville’s future among the key topics covered after the developments this week.

He also spoke of Leeds’ potential interest in Tottenham’s Oliver Skipp, as well as a potential positional change for Gray, should he remain at Elland Road.

Ultimately, though, it is hard to see Leeds‘ window really getting up and running until a big sale like Summerville is made, and so that is the main point of interest right now.

There have been rumours Leeds could get as much as £40 million for Summerville, though Bailey says it will undoubtedly be much closer to the £30 million mark.

He said: “I think Leeds will be getting closer to £30m than £40m, that’s for sure. Leeds won’t be getting £40m at all for Summerville, I don’t see that. Brighton are in for him, they lost Ansu Fati, that didn’t work out and so we know they want a wide player.

“Where the other interest is coming from, Liverpool have ruled themselves out and are not in for him. Brighton firmly in pole position for him.

“Like with Liverpool, I don’t think Chelsea ever came to the table for him. They have watched him but I don’t think he’s quite at that level yet. I think that’s the way it is panning out.”

Leeds plan to reinvest funds they receive for Summerville

As mentioned, once Summerville’s departure is eventually confirmed, the focus will certainly be on who Leeds look to replace him with.

Unfortunately, his sale is going to be needed to ensure Leeds remain compliant with PSR, particularly with the reduction in parachute payments from the Premier League.

However, talkSPORT journalist Alex Crook has echoed claims made by Marathe earlier this month by suggesting Leeds do plan to reinvest the funds.

He said: “I don’t expect them (Brighton and Hove Albion) to have a free run at Summerville. I think a lot of Premier League clubs have him on their radar.

“There has been talk of Liverpool, although I am told maybe that interest has cooled slightly. It’s going to be a good deal for Leeds. I think they are pricing him at around £30 million, so money to reinvest in their squad potentially.”
