Report: Deal to see £8.5m player leave Forest on loan now 'likely' just days after Marko Stamenic's exit

Nottingham Forest could now be set to see one of their players spend the season away on loan after a decision has now been made on his future.

Nuno Espirito Santo has seen Forest secure their first signing of the summer window with the New Zealand international Marko Stamenic from Red Star Belgrade.

However, the midfielder will not need to unpack his bag at the City Ground with an instant loan being sanctioned to Forest’s sister club Olympiacos.

And there could now be another player who is going to join Stamenic on loan from the Reds for the upcoming campaign.

Although Forest are one of the Premier League sides who are in need of moving some players on this month before the PSR deadline, for now Evangelos Marinakis is looking at offloading some players to his other club.

Forest set to offload player yet to even play for the club

Nuno’s side are looking to make additions over the coming weeks to improve the quality of the side which he inherited midway through the 2023/24 campaign.

Goalkeeper Carlos Miguel looks set to make the move to England from Brazil after Forest triggered his release clause earlier in the week.

However, players are going to have to move on if Forest are going to comply with the upcoming PSR deadline at the end of the month.

Although loans may not bring the money into the club which is required, Forest do look set to see another player temporarily leave for next season.

According to journalist Kostas Lianos, Olympiacos are keen to keep Omar Richards at the club for the upcoming campaign.

It had been suggested that Richards was set to return to the City Ground having spent the 2023/24 campaign over in Greece.

The £8.5m 26-year-old featured just 15 times for Olympiacos due to injury but it seems they have now plans to give him another opportunity for the Greek side.

But he is yet to even play a game for Forest.

Forest now eyeing left-back cover with Bradley Locko

With Nuno Tavares also heading back to Arsenal following his loan spell with Forest, options are set to become extremely limited at left-back.

Stade Brest youngster Bradley Locko is believed to be on Forest’s radar having impressed in Ligue 1 for the side which finished third in the league.

That could mean Forest will go into the new campaign with Harry Toffolo and Locko as their options with Richards still on the books.

Improvements are going to be needed with the likes of Leicester City and Southampton promoted for the new campaign and a player of this calibre would certainly provide just that.
