'Concrete interest': Chelsea have gathered information about £25m attacker in recent days - journalist

Chelsea have done their research in recent days on a new attacking transfer target.

The Blues have been linked with several different attackers already this summer, especially in the No 9 position.

For example, The Athletic reports that Chelsea are close to reaching an agreement to sign Aston Villa’s young £19m-rated striker Omari Kellyman.

It’s certainly going to be interesting to see what the attacking options look like at Stamford Bridge next season. If you’re Chelsea’s Nicolas Jackson, you’d much rather see the club bring in an inexperienced youngster than a proven frontman to take the starting position.

Chelsea interested in £25m forward

Journalist Florian Plettenberg has claimed via X on Saturday that Chelsea have a “concrete interest” in signing Hoffenheim star Maximilian Beier.

It is understood that the Blues have “gathered information” about the 21-year-old Bundesliga striker in recent days.

Apparently, Beier has a release clause in his deal with German club Hoffenheim worth around €30m (£25m).

The centre-forward would like a transfer move amid interest from Bayer Leverkusen and Chelsea, but the latter is not frontrunners in the transfer race.

Who is Maximilian Beier?

Beier may be unfamiliar to Premier League audiences, but Hoffenheim’s young attacker is certainly someone on the rise.

He definitely had the best season of his young career to date last year, scoring 16 league goals in the Bundesliga for Hoffenheim.

As a result, he’s currently at Euro 2024 as part of the squad with hosts Germany. He’s yet to play a single minute at the tournament so far, which is fair enough because he’s behind Kai Havertz and Niclas Fullkrug in the pecking order.

His name emerging as a new Chelsa target should inspire a bit more confidence than other targets because at least he’s got some kind of record behind him, albeit he’s still very young.

Let’s see if Chelsea decide to ramp up interest in the coming days.
