Many Chelsea fans are saying the same thing about Romelu Lukaku after watching him against Romania

This European Championship is turning out to be a disappointing one for Chelsea striker Romelu Lukaku.

While his country, Belgium, were able to beat Romania 2-0 on Saturday, Romelu Lukaku had another goal disallowed.

It comes after he had two ruled out in Belgium’s 1-0 defeat against Slovakia in their Euro 2024 opener.

Lukaku’s failure to score at the RheinEnergieStadion on Saturday means he is yet to register in Germany.

Nevertheless, a lot of Chelsea fans have still been quite positive about their forward.

Do Chelsea fans want Romelu Lukaku back at the club?

Lukaku has spent the last two seasons out on loan at AS Roma and Inter Milan.

After watching him at the Euros, though, there are some supporters who would not be against the idea of the 31-year-old remaining at Stamford Bridge this summer.

One Chelsea fan made it clear that he would rather the club keep Lukaku than sign a young forward. The supporter said: “I’d keep Lukaku rather than sign some u23 bum up front. Lukaku is still a solid 9. Would get us over 17 league goals.”

Another shared a similar sentiment: “I would prefer Lukaku over Jonathan David even after watching the first two Euros games where he has been cursed.”

One Chelsea supporter asked: “Why don’t Chelsea just stick with Lukaku next season?”

Another person on X posted: “I wish Chelsea could keep Lukaku, he is better than all we have currently.”

And someone else has been impressed with Lukaku’s overall performance at the Euros: “Even though the goal is offside I’ve been very impressed by Lukaku in this tournament so far. If he can come back to Chelsea and be happy I’ll take him. A top striker and gives us the opportunity to splash cash on a big LW.”

Lukaku scored 21 goals in 47 appearances while out on loan at Roma last season.

Should Chelsea consider keeping hold of Romelu Lukaku?

Lukaku may not want to be at Chelsea, hence his two recent loan spells, but no one has tried to sign him permanently yet this summer.

If that does not change and the Blues continue to struggle in their pursuit of a new No.9, then they probably should consider retaining his services.

According to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, Atletico Madrid do not want to sell their centre-forward, Samu Omorodion, to Chelsea.

Lukaku is the third-most expensive signing in Chelsea’s history and a reliable goalscorer. The club cannot keep loaning him out, especially when they are looking for a striker themselves.

They need to sell the Belgium international during this transfer window and make some money back or just keep hold of him.
