Report: Premier League club think 'quality' player isn't actually worth what Wolves are asking for

West Ham United have seen a £25 million bid for Max Kilman rejected – and a report has now shared how much they actually value him.

Kilman is the subject of intense speculation at the moment, with a number of Premier League clubs on his tail.

The 27-year-old has interest from Manchester United, Tottenham Hotspur, Newcastle United and West Ham United.

West Ham and Newcastle have both made offers for Kilman over the weekend. Newcastle apparently made a player-plus-cash bid, with the player in question being Elliot Anderson.

West Ham bid £25 million, which was rejected.

West Ham are the club who have been linked with Kilman the longest – and there is now word on how much they value him at the moment.

A few weeks ago, it was suggested that Wolves would be looking for £45 million if they were going to sell Kilman, a player dubbed ‘a centre-half with quality’ by former Old Gold boss Nuno Espirito Santo.

The club don’t particularly want to offload their captain, hence that very high asking price.

But with at least four clubs keen, it’s possible someone will eventually meet that valuation. Especially if a bidding war breaks out.

The Sun have reported today that West Ham are not likely to get near that £45 million asking price.

Apparently, they do not value Kilman any higher than £35 million. So if Wolves are sticking to their initial asking price, Kilman currently looks unlikely to make a move to West Ham, where he would link up with old Wolves boss Julen Lopetegui.

It remains to be seen if they will change their stance and offer what Wolves want. Potentially, they will move closer to Wolves’ valuation if they see other clubs offering above £35 million.

West Ham need to get serious

Wolves have set an asking price of £45 million for Kilman, which they are fully entitled to do as they don’t really want to sell.

West Ham’s offer of £25 million is therefore derisory.

Given the level of interest in the player, the Hammers are going to have to do much better. If they don’t value Kilman any more than £35 million, then Wolves shouldn’t entertain them until they change their stance.

At the end of the day, Wolves would prefer the player to stay. He was important for Gary O’Neil last season and the manager clearly rates him. So it’s going to take a lot of money for him to leave.

He’s a starting English centre-back for an established Premier League side with some very unique qualities who is about to come into his prime years. West Ham surely cannot hope to sign him for under £35 million.
