Dog of the Week: The latest dogs looking for their forever homes from Newbury Dogs Trust

Dogs Trust Newbury has a number of dogs at its Hamstead Marshall base who need a new home.

And every Sunday we have been shining a spotlight on one or two of them to try to help spread the word.

Could you give Murphy a loving home?

Nationwide, the charity currently has 765 dogs that are looking for a family to join.

You can find out more about adopting a dog by visiting the charity’s website.

Today we have the gorgeous Murphy to introduce you to.

Murphy is our latest Dog of the Week

Murphy is a five-year-old Labrador retriever.

Dogs Trust Newbury said: “The only thing we want to say about Murphy is that he exceeds expectations.

“He has lived a long time in kennels and is very used to that style of life.

“He will be so excited to finally get out and see the world with people he loves.

Murphy is looking for his forever home

“Once Murphy gets to know you, he is immensely loyal.”

Murphy is looking for a quiet home that has minimal visitors to the household as he is sometimes unsure about people he doesn't know.

He cannot live with cats or small furry animals, but he could potentially live with another calm female dog.

Because of his stranger sensitivities and nervousness around handling, he would suit a home with older children, but he could be left for up to six hours once he has settled into his new home.

“He likes his food and absolutely adores his toys - he will do a lot for a tennis ball and has shown some skill with gundog and retriever games,” the Trust added.

“Everything we do with Murphy, he takes in his stride and we cannot wait to see him out in the world, finally living.”
