'Been told....': Sky Sports journalist says Wolves are 'concretely interested' in ‘dangerous’ £35m target

One long-term Wolves target has had his future speculated as another club emerges as an interested party.

Gary O’Neil will be satisfied with Wolves’ start to the 2024 summer transfer window, as three players have committed their futures to Molineux.

Tommy Doyle, Rodrigo Gomes and Pedro Lima, whose arrival is pending, represent the first three signings of the summer, with more expected to come as the market progresses.

O’Neil will be eager to acquire a striker this summer, with one long-standing Wolves target’s future now explained.

Wolves transfer target Armando Broja is now wanted in the Bundesliga

In January, Wolves wanted to sign Armando Broja from Chelsea however, Fulham instead captured the 22-year-old on a half-season loan.

After an underwhelming time at Craven Cottage, Broja will return to his parent club, with O’Neil still said to be monitoring the forward.

This week, Sky Germany journalist Florian Plettenberg credited Wolves as being ‘concretely interested’ in the striker, alongside Everton, AC Milan and now VfB Stuttgart.

While the Chelsea academy graduate is on the Bundesliga club’s ‘shortlist’, a Plettenberg describes a move to Germany as ‘unlikely’, reinforcing his most likely destination.

The Sky journalist said that he had ‘been told’ that a transfer inside of the Premier League is ‘more realistic’.

Having held interest in Broja since January, it will be interesting to see just how far Wolves are prepared to battle for the forward.

How far will Wolves go to sign Broja?

Given that it has been documented that Wolves do not agree with Chelsea’s valuation of Broja, it will be interesting to see how highly O’Neil rates the 22-year-old.

When in form, the Albanian’s quality is undeniable, seeing him lauded as ‘dangerous’ and ‘complete’ by talent scout Jacek Kulig during his loan at Southampton.

The Blues are rumoured to want around £35m for the forward, who scored one Premier League goal last season, something that Wolves must think deeply about.

In his career, Broja has netted eight goals in the top flight in 66 appearances, numbers that don’t warrant a price tag exceeding £30m, despite the fact that O’Neil would expect to improve the Chelsea man.

With interest heating up, it appears that Wolves may need to act fast if they are to open the bidding for the striker, who is wanted all over Europe this summer.
