Report: Gary O'Neil has now made his mind up on 'powerful' Wolves gem ahead of 24/25 season, clear plan set

Gary O’Neil has made his mind up regarding Nathan Fraser’s future as a Wolves player ahead of the 2024/25 season.

The summer transfer window is underway and Wolves have got off to an incredibly strong start.

Tommy Doyle made his move permanent to become the Old Gold’s first capture of 2024/25, later being joined by Rodrigo Gomes and the soon-to-be-announced Pedro Lima.

Aside from looking outside of the club for reinforcements, Gary O’Neil has ensured that those within his squad have a plan, with a decision made on one player’s future.

Nathan Fraser expected to go on loan next season away from Wolves

This week, The Athletic reported that Wolves starlet Leon Chiwome had signed a new deal with the club.

The 18-year-old made three Premier League appearances under O’Neil over 2023/24 and is expected to remain at Molineux next term to continue his development.

The report included an important detail about fellow starlet Nathan Fraser, whose future will be impacted due to Chiwome’s new deal.

It’s understood that Fraser will be allowed to leave on loan next season while Chiwome remains at Wolves to cover, as the 19-year-old eyes much-needed game time.

Like Chiwome, the Irishman was given a chance to impress in O’Neil’s squad last campaign, making 11 senior appearances where he netted two goals and provided one assist.

A season-long loan will be crucial for Fraser

Lauded as a ‘powerful’ forward by head of coaching operations Jonathan Hunter-Barrett, Fraser is a valued member of Wolves’ squad.

The local youngster has shown just how high his ceiling could one day be at Molineux however, the time has certainly come for the striker to experience consistent senior football.

Last season was a breakthrough for Fraser although, it also highlighted the distance between the teenager being Premier League-ready and him being inexperienced at senior level.

A loan spell is the best route for the 19-year-old to now head down, with plenty of ability to work with and plenty of experience there for Fraser to get under his belt.

The Irishman’s current deal at Wolves expires in 2025, making next season crucial to his career with his boyhood club, with a positive loan spell having the opportunity to open doors for the forward.

Only time will tell what level O’Neil deems is appropriate for the teen to experience next term, in what will be a critical year for Fraser.
