More upgrades planned for Horris Hill School in Newtown near Newbury

A prep school which has recently become co-ed has more upgrades and improvements planned after a major two-year refurbishment project was recently completed.

Horris Hill in Newtown was acquired by specialist school business Forfar Education in 2021, and since then Forfar has been investing heavily in the school.

In 2022, the school undertook a major refurbishment of the school’s science labs

This investment has included a major refurbishment of the school’s science labs as well as installing specialist multi-sports flooring in the sports hall alongside brand new indoor nets, moveable rainproof outdoor shelters for match days and new equipment such as tennis and cricket ball machines.

The new David Brownlow Theatre has also opened on the school site, and the state of the art 150-seat performing arts space offers a platform for drama lessons, talks, assemblies and concerts.

Further investment for Horris Hill is due to follow shortly, with improvements planned for all around the school.

The school became co-ed last year and has since seen 26 female students join

These include upgrades to the onsite medical centre, an update to the senior boys boarding facilities and the development of a contemporary art department.

Horris Hill became co-ed in September 2023, and since then it has welcomed 26 girls through its doors, several of whom board.

A dedicated senior girl’s boarding house in the grounds is scheduled for completion ahead of the first cohort of Year 7 girl boarders in 2025.
