Report: West Ham still want 2021 target who plays like Jamie Vardy, told they can sign him for just £12m

West Ham are still keen to sign a player David Moyes wanted back in January 2021 – and can now secure his signature for just £12m.

Julen Lopetegui desperately needs a reliable frontman at the London Stadium – after Michail Antonio and Danny Ings could only muster up eight goals combined across all competitions last season.

Now, West Ham could bring a striker compared to Jamie Vardy to the London Stadium – without even breaking the bank to get him…

West Ham monitoring Adam Hlozek

A story in today’s paper version of the Sunday Mirror (June 23rd – page 76) claims that West Ham are looking at Bayer Leverkusen No.23 Adam Hlozek.

The Czech Republic international – who is currently playing at UEFA EURO 2024 – is a top talent, with the Sunday Mirror claiming that he is highly regarded across Europe.

However, the 21-year-old is struggling for game time under Xabi Alonso, purely because of the attacking quality possessed by the reigning Bundesliga champions.

Hlozek made just five starts in the Bundesliga last season as the likes of Florian Wirtz, Victor Boniface, Patrik Schick and Amine Adli were preferred.

West Ham’s interest seemingly remains from January 2021 – as aforesaid – when 90min claimed that the Hammers were considering a move to sign the striker, then aged 18, when he was still playing for Sparta Prague.

The Sunday Mirror add that Leeds are also keen to buy Hlozek – who could be signed for just £12m – although we would presume West Ham are favourites given their status as a Premier League outfit.

In 36 appearances across all competitions last season, the man from Ivancice scored seven goals and also provided five assists.

21-year-old has been compared to Jamie Vardy

Hlozek is a precocious talent, but due to his situation at Bayer Leverkusen, his name is yet to reguarly hit headlines, so West Ham fans might not know much about his playing style.

If that is the case, a comparison to a better known player might help, and the Czech Republic international has actually been compared to Leicester No.9 Vardy.

It was The Athletic who likened Hlozek to the England international, specifically mentioning their calmness when through on goal and strength on the ball as comparable traits.
