Report: Tottenham now interested in signing £40m Manchester City player

It has just emerged, that Tottenham Hotspur are lining up a move for a £40m-rated Manchester City player this summer transfer window, according to a recent report.

Ange Postecoglou’s side enjoyed a productive debut season together last term, finishing fifth in the Premier League.

There were plenty of signs of progression and the style of football is now much more aligned with the vision of club chiefs and supporters.

Though, the former Celtic boss won’t be totally satisfied until his side return to the Champions League and finally win silverware.

In their quest to do that, a £40m Man City player is being seriously considered.

Tottenham interested in Yan Couto

According to The Sun (page 56), Tottenham Hotspur are interested in signing Manchester City right-back Yan Couto.

The North Londoners are looking to provide competition for Pedro Porro and view Couto as the ideal addition.

With Emerson Royal potentially on the way out, Spurs have set their sights on the Brazilian, who has spent the last two seasons on loan at City’s sister club Girona.

The 22-year-old netted twice whilst laying on 10 assists last term, helping the LaLiga outfit to a third-placed finish, thus qualifying for the Champions League.

The cost of Yan Couto

Couto, who has picked up four caps for Brazil, is valued at £40m by the Premier League champions.

He has two years remaining on his contract and won’t be allowed to leave on the cheap despite having never made an appearance for The Citizens.

The report further claims that there is still a possibility that Couto could leave on loan rather than on a permanent deal.

City are under no pressure to sell before the end of June – when the financial year ends.
