'Still involved': Sky Sports journalist says Arsenal could sign 'phenomenal' African star instead of Viktor Gyokeres

Arsenal are searching for a new striker and their search for that player could take them to the Bundesliga.

The Gunners are looking to strengthen the number nine position and have been linked with a host of strikers in recent weeks.

One of the more likely names has been Sporting Lisbon striker, Viktor Gyokeres.

Indeed, reports have even suggested a deal is close to being done for the Swedish star, who smashed in more than 30 goals last season.

However, Gyokeres is not the only name on the list for Edu and Mikel Arteta.

And according to Sky Sports journalist Florian Plettenberg, one of the Bundesliga’s top goal-getters is still a possibility for Arsenal.

Arsenal still in mix to sign Serhou Guirassy

Taking to X to provide an update on Guirassy’s situation at Stuttgart, Plettenberg has said that Borussia Dortmund are the team most hopeful.

However, Arsenal and Chelsea, among others, cannot be ruled out just yet as the in-demand forward catches the eye around Europe.

Guirassy a completely different option for Arsenal

Anyone who has watched the Bundesliga this season will attest to what Serhou Guirassy brings to the table.

The striker is a big, powerful player who very much plays like a traditional number nine in the sense he gets the ball into him, bullies defenders, and uses his power and strength to create.

Of course, he can finish as well. 30 goals in the Bundesliga is no mean feat and it’s little wonder Arsenal and other clubs are so keen.

Lauded as a ‘phenomenal‘ forward over in Germany, Guirassy has more than earned a big move and if it is to be Arsenal, then it’s a big change of direction from the Gunners.

Dortmund might well fancy themselves. But the Premier League – and the wages that move brings – could well tempt Guirassy if an offer comes in.
