Everton are now the frontrunners to sign ‘incredibly fast’ player this summer - journalist

Everton are stepping up their attempts to bolster Sean Dyche’s squad during the summer transfer window.

The Toffees look set to offload players and that was inevitable given the Premier League’s PSR deadline on June 30.

Lewis Dobbin has completed a switch to Aston Villa while Dominic Calvert-Lewin’s move to Newcastle United seems to be edging ever closer.

While the loss of Calvert-Lewin would be a blow for Sean Dyche, it will allow the Toffees to spend more freely during the summer window.

And one player who is emerging as a top target for Everton is Yankuba Minteh, with director of football Kevin Thelwell particularly keen to sign the winger.

Everton leading chase to sign Yankuba Minteh

Following claims that Thelwell is pushing for Everton to sign Minteh from Newcastle United, it would appear that Everton are the frontrunners at the moment.

That’s according to Foot Mercato journalist Santi Aouna, who has shared the latest on Minteh’s future.

“Everton are the frontrunners for Yankuba Minteh at the moment…,” he wrote.

Arne Slot says Minteh is ‘incredibly fast’

Given the fact that Minteh is attracting interest from a host of European clubs, this would be a huge coup for the Toffees.

The 19-year-old enjoyed an impressive campaign at Feyenoord last time out under now-Liverpool boss Arne Slot.

The Gambian winger had a hand in 17 goals in 37 appearances and received huge praise from Slot back in October.

“He certainly doesn’t lack self-confidence,” the Dutchman said of Minteh. “His willingness to give everything is enormous.

“When we see his statistics, it is really impressive. Minteh ran more sprint meters against Ajax in an hour than many players in the two games. He is incredibly fast. And he wants it so badly.”

Everton have lacked real firepower in attack during Dyche’s spell at he club and Minteh would tick plenty of boxes for the Toffees.

The youngster also has an incredibly high ceiling and would have only benefitted from regular game time in the Eredivisie last term.
