Report: Which key Nottingham Forest player is most likely to be sold before PSR deadline

The PSR deadline is looming large and for Nottingham Forest, they need to sell a player pretty quickly.

On June 30th the latest cycle will end and clubs will be required to submit their accounts to the Premier League.

Last season, Forest breached PSR and found themselves on the end of a four-point deduction from the independent commission.

Now, Forest are once again up against it with it believed that the club must raise at least £20 million before the deadline.

The Reds have a host of players being monitored by various clubs and now it’s been claimed which player is the most likely to be sold.

It’s really getting down to the nitty gritty at the moment for Forest with just a week to go until the PSR cycle ends.

Intriguingly, clubs will be allowed to spend even more from the 1st July and the whole system makes a mockery of itself sometimes.

Now, in a report by The Athletic, it’s claimed that Murillo is the most likely Forest player to be sold before the PSR deadline.

The Brazilian defender signed for Forest 12 months ago from Corinthians and cost the club just £10.4 million.

Forest would make a significant profit on the player, with the club valuing him in the region of £70 million.

In the report, it also claims that Taiwo Awoniyi and Morgan Gibbs-White could also leave but Forest won’t allow more than two top stars to depart.

Murillo was ever-present in the Premier League since making his debut in October and replacing him would prove a tricky thing to do.

Forest right to cash in on Murillo

In an ideal world, Forest wouldn’t be sailing quite so close to the wind and every top player could be kept at the City Ground.

These PSR regulations seem to only benefit the top clubs though and it’s a far from ideal situation for Forest.

If the club really has to sell a player, Murillo does feel like the right one to sell.

Given that he was signed for just £10 million, it should be straightforward to rake in the £20 million in profit that is needed to meet PSR.

Murillo showcased some serious talent last season and the fact that he’s left-footed also makes him a sought-after player.

Offloading the 21-year-old would be a bit of a wrench but ultimately, Forest have to avoid a points deduction next season.

The challenge would be to replace Murillo and hopefully, the Reds have a list of potential signings lined up to take the Brazilian’s place.
