'Closing in': Fabrizio Romano has exciting news for Nottingham Forest fans today

Fabrizio Romano has today delivered some exciting transfer news for Nottingham Forest supporters.

The transfer market is now open but with Euro 2024 taking centre stage things have been slow going for some clubs.

Behind the scenes Forest do look to be getting plans in place, however, and it would appear that one deal is close.

The Reds will want to target some signings this summer, despite most of the emphasis likely to be placed on departures.

Now, Romano has delivered an update involving Forest today and it looks like an exciting piece of information for the supporters.

Fabrizio Romano says Forest are ‘closing in’ on new signing

The transfer guru has taken to X today to suggest that Forest are very close to the signing of a wonderkid.

Romano has claimed that Forest are now close to signing St Pauli youngster Eric da Silva Moreira.

The fee agreed is around £1 million and he will now pen a contract with the club until June 2028.

Moreira is a client of Jorge Mendes and Forest will hope that he is more successful than some of the other recruits who have been part of his portfolio.

The talented 18-year-old has been playing youth team football over the past 12 months and he scored four goals in 15 appearances.

Now, Forest have won the race to sign the player who helped Germany with the Under-17 World Cup last year.

Moreira is intriguing signing for Forest

It’s fascinating to see what plansNuno Espirito Santo has for Moreira in the short term.

Given a lack of regular men’s football, there does feel like a sense that he will be viewed as a player with one eye on the future.

However, given that he’s signing ahead of pre-season, the Forest head coach might look to take a closer glance during the pre-season fixtures.

Moreira is clearly a talented boy but so far his best flashes of promise have come during games against players who are of a similar age.

At 18, however, Moreira has bags of time on his side to unleash his potential and Forest might be getting themselves a very shrewd signing.

Moreira operates as a wing-back or further forward as a more conventional winger.

Forest do need more options in wide areas and it will now be fascinating to see what Moreira can achieve on Trentside.
