Report: Everton have just made bid to sign 'exceptional' Premier League player who Liverpool want

Liverpool and Everton have enjoyed a fierce rivalry for many years now, and it is one that will not come to an end anytime soon.

It is, however, the former who have had the majority of the bragging rights over the years given their respective form on the pitch.

Liverpool have constantly been challenging for trophies and playing in Europe, with the Toffees fighting off Premier League relegation.

The blue half of Merseyside only just survived once more last season, with Sean Dyche guiding them to safety.

That came despite Everton being deducted a total of eight points for financial breaches, with the club securing an impressive 15th place finish in the end given the circumstances.

Everton make bid for Liverpool target Yankuba Minteh

They will now be keen to get back to their best and indeed get back to a position to be able to battle it out with their fierce rivals once more.

One route that Dyche can go down to do just that is by bringing new players to Goodison Park this summer.

And there has already been a bid for one new attacker, with Everton offering Newcastle United around £30million for Yankuba Minteh, according to the Daily Mail.

The bid for the ‘exceptional’ winger comes after interest from Everton’s city rivals Liverpool, with Minteh having played under Arne Slot last season.

The 19-year-old Gambia international spent the campaign at Feyenoord, where he banged in 11 goals and clinched six assists.

Will Liverpool and Everton fight it out for the Newcastle man?

Minteh is yet to taste Premier League action for Newcastle, having been immediately sent out on loan after joining from Odense BK last summer.

Importantly, however, he did gain valuable experience in the Champions League and Europa League last time out.

The winger is clearly someone that Slot knows well, although it remains to be seen whether or not the Dutchman is eager for a reunion at Anfield.

Slot could be tempted to turn to his former club and indeed the Eredivisie for new faces at Liverpool this summer, but he is reluctant to do exactly that given the criticism that Erik ten Hag received for bringing such players to Manchester United.

Minteh is, however, no longer an Eredivisie player now that he has returned to the Magpies, meaning a deal for the young winger could still be pursued.
