Report: What the Newcastle United owners have now accepted about Miguel Almiron

The clock could be ticking on Miguel Almiron’s Newcastle United career.

The Magpies are currently looking for new signings who can take them to the next level, and are interested in bringing in a right winger.

They want someone who is an improvement on Miguel Almiron and Jacob Murphy, both of which have been steady players for Newcastle United over the past couple of years.

But now the Magpies are aiming to kick on, as they look to sign someone to take Almiron’s place on the right of attack. Michael Olise was earmarked for that role, but he is now on his way to Bayern Munich.

Miguel Almiron linked with leaving Newcastle this summer

With Newcastle eyeing a new winger, Almiron is going to be pushed down the pecking order – or possibly out of the club completely.

He is someone who Newcastle are willing to listen to offers for, while it is considered likely that he will be sold during this summer’s transfer window.

In an ideal world, he would be sold before June 30th. That is an important date for the Magpies, as they are under pressure to sell before the next PSR deadline.

Almiron has looked like a contender to depart, but it would be a major surprise if he waved goodbye to St James’ Park this week.

Newcastle owners’ admission about Miguel Almiron

That is the view of the decision makers on Tyneside.

According to the Northern Echo, Newcastle United’s hierarchy have now accepted that it is highly unlikely that they will be able to sell Almiron before June 30th.

The report adds that the same goes for Callum Wilson and Martin Dubravka, who are also being linked with moves away.

Copa America complicates things for Newcastle

While Newcastle may still sell Almiron this summer, it is not going to happen this week.

That is disappointing, but not a surprise. Miggy is currently away on international duty, representing Paraguay at the Copa America. They compete in their first match on Monday night, as they prepare to face Colombia in Houston, Texas.

Almiron and Paraguay will also face Brazil and Costa Rica, which means that the 30-year-old will be competing against his Newcastle United teammate Bruno Guimaraes.

Newcastle selling Yankuba Minteh instead

While one winger in Almiron is not going to be sold this week, it looks like another will.

The Magpies need to get rid of someone, and it seems like it is going to be Yankuba Minteh.

Newcastle are ready to cash in on the 19-year-old, and he has told them that he would like to sign for Everton and remain in the Premier League.

It is frustrating that the club are having to sell a youngster with huge potential in Minteh instead of Almiron, but that is the reality that Toon fans are facing.

Minteh is on his way out this week, but Almiron is not. However, that does not necessarily mean that Miggy will still be a Magpie next season.
